In this week’s “You can’t make this stuff up!” news, an anti-gay pastor named, seriously, Gaylard Williams was arrested December 19 for soliciting sex in a park near Seymour, Indiana.
Williams, 59, serves as pastor for the Praise Cathedral Church of God in Seymour. The church does not believe in same sex marriage and asks its congregation to “glorify God in our body and which avoid the fulfillment of the lust of the flesh.”
Williams approached the man at the Cypress Lake public fishing area on December 12. He asked the man to roll down his window, proceeding to squeeze his genitals and proposition him for oral sex. The unidentified man then told the pastor that he was “barking up the wrong tree” and feigned reaching for a gun.
The man then took down Williams’ license plate number and notified police. When located later, authorities discovered a stash of gay porn in his car. Williams denied ownership of the smut, insisting that it belonged to a someone else and he was just returning it to them. He also told authorities he was at the fishing area looking for a friend who can usually be found there.
Williams was charged with battery and appeared in a Jackson County courtroom. He is currently free on a $355 bond.
