Elton John has scheduled a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Such a meeting has been confirmed by the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. He declared that “if their schedules allow it, he (Putin) is ready to meet and discuss any questions that interest” the singer.
The English rock star, huge advocate of the LGBTQAI+ rights, expressed his interest in talking privately with the politician about his stance on the issue in an interview with the BBC earlier this month. He has defined Putin’s attitude towards the LGBTQAI+ rights as “isolating and prejudiced.”
A few days later, he claimed that he had received a call from Vladimir Putin himself, inviting him to the desired private reunion. That call turned out to be a hoax planned by Vladimir Krasnov and Alexei Stolyarov, Russian pranksters, who confessed their deed to the BBC and the Komsomolskaya Pravda, a Russian newspaper. Peskov added that, during the call, the president (this time, the actual Vladimir Putin) had asked Elton John not to be offended by the hoax.
