It’s July! We’re in summer! And the Rainbow Hub is kicking off its first Giving Back, Getting Involved campaign. What is this? Why is that graphic so… colorful? Let’s break it down.
The Giving Back, Getting Involved (GBGI) campaign has been put together to provide resources, information, and options for our site audience to become involved in our community. The Rainbow Hub has many writers that are involved in their communities for a variety of causes, and we’re going to use our knowledge to empower and jump start the ability for our readers who are interested to do the same. We are also providing a page containing up to date, comprehensive crisis resources for anyone needing Help. We are constantly adding to this list, so if any of our readers have addition information, please let us know and we’ll add it on.
The campaign breaks down into two categories, which are elaborated below:
Giving Back – This is for anyone who wants to donate financially or volunteer their time directly working for causes. We’ll be detailing specific causes to donate to, and areas of service that programs need from volunteers. Ranging from working at animal shelters, helping support LGBT+ programs, community gardens, anti-trafficking programs, etc., the Giving Back project provides information and suggestions, in addition to highlighting specific donation drives/campaigns.
Getting Involved – The Hub will provide resources for folks to become more involved in their own communities, or on a national level. This covers a variety of areas, including LGBTQ+ rights, human trafficking, animal abuse, anti-poverty, classism, etc. Information covers resources to learn about petitions, raising awareness, starting fundraisers, etc. We realize that while not all of us have the funds or physical ability to directly donate or volunteer, there are still many ways of helping out, and Getting Involved is targeted for this area.
As you participate in this campaign, tweet us and buzz us on Facebook to let us know how you’re giving back or getting involved. We’d love to share your success to help inspire others.
