Fun Learning Games for Kids

Contrary to popular belief kids don’t have to stare at text books for hours on end in order to learn. One of the best ways for kids to learn is through play. Especially as most kids won’t realize that they’re learning and will be far more excited to play then to do their homework or to read a text book. To discover a few fun learning games for kids simply continue reading.

Fun Learning Games for Kids:

Flash cards:

Flash cards are a useful tool which can be used to teach kids a wide variety of subjects. As key examples, you can use flash cards to teach your kids their times tables and new languages. If you want to teach your kids Spanish, you can write a Spanish word on one side of a flash card and the corresponding English word on the other side of the same card. Alternatively, you can even create flash cards which features cartoon pictures which feature Spanish words on the other side. You’ll be surprised at just how much your kids will enjoy testing their knowledge with you, using flash cards.

Shop keeper:

While notes and coins are less used today than in the past, it’s still a fun idea to play shop keeper with your kids, in order to teach them basic maths skills. Such as how to count. It’s a great idea to buy a cheap toy cash register for your kids to play with as well as plastic or wooden grocery items. So that your kids will get to role play working at a local grocery store. Alternatively your kids may want to role play selling items in a toy shop instead. If you have multiple kids they may also enjoy swapping between playing the role of a shop assistant or store manager and playing as customers.

Monopoly:

Monopoly is a great game for kids to play as it teaches kids about the economy and real estate market and encourages kids to develop keen business skills. If your kids are too young to play regular Monopoly you may want to purchase a Monopoly Jnr set instead. Alternatively, you may want to get your kids to help you create a DIY Monopoly set which features streets and businesses from your town or neighborhood. Especially if you have artistic, highly creative kids who relish arts and crafts.

Tic tac toe:

Tic tac toe is a fun strategic game which will teach your kids reasoning skills and logic skills, through trial and error. If you have multiple kids you might want to run a tic tac toe tournament with multiple heats, a semi final match and a finals match. Just remember to enter the tournament yourself too as your kids will be more excited to play and learn if you’re willing to play with them.

In conclusion, one of the best ways to encourage kids to learn is through play. So it’s a great idea to play as many educational games with your kids as possible. Especially if you’d like to foster a love of learning in your kids!
