A Guide to Different Types of Senior Living Facilities

There is a myriad of reasons to consider moving to an assisted living facility, and what is more, there are a wide range of different types of senior living communities to choose from, each with its own benefits, facilities, and professional staff.

So, whether you are looking into the possibility of moving into a senior living community in the near future or else are researching the different types of facilities for a loved one, then continue reading for a guide to the different types of senior living facilities available.

In-Home Care

In-home care centers around either a registered nurse, primary caregiver, or even a close friend or member of the family who spends either all day or at least certain parts of the day caring, supporting, and generally looking after the elderly person or older adult.

Generally, in-home care is considered to be one of the more expensive care options, which is often why it is only chosen on a temporary or part-time basis.

Hybrid Care

Hybrid care, as the title suggests, is more of a combined care and treatment option that often includes the work of medical professionals and family and friends.

Generally, hybrid care is certainly more of a specific, tailor-made, and adaptable care and treatment plan designed solely for the individual, and such a plan is often contributed to by a range of different people. Usually, hybrid care involves independent living facilities, outpatient medical day care, and temporary stays in a care home.

Independent Living Communities

Independent living communities, on the other hand, are basically exactly the same as living in one’s own home, save for the roles and responsibilities relating to household maintenance, grocery shopping, and daily chores.

Basically, an independent living community is a housing arrangement that is exclusively designed and built for those adults aged fifty-five and over who want to enjoy their golden years to the fullest without being proverbially bogged down with mundane household maintenance and other related responsibilities.

Assisted Living Communities

Essentially, assisted living communities are individual apartments built around a safe and security-conscious miniature town and provide absolutely everything one would need to enjoy an excellent quality of life. Usually, assisted living communities offer a higher level of medical care and treatment than the above.

When considering a senior living community and apartment home like assisted living in Bergen County it is suggested that you visit the place on more than one occasion to check out the facilities and meet as many staff and residents as possible, as what you are shown on one day might give you a completely different impression on another day.

Care Homes

Care homes, also referred to as nursing homes, cater to any adult or elderly person who either needs a safe, secure, and staff-attended home in the golden years or has specific needs that need to be closely monitored by nursing staff.

Such needs and situations include physical disability care, dementia and memory loss care, sensory impairment care, and mental health and wellbeing condition care.
